I actually WANT to see my grades!?

I love knowing that I'm doing good in college, I just wish my teacher would update our grades so I could see them! I have my 3rd day of class tomorrow and we have our first test that I'm pretty sure I'll ace. Then it's up to lab to get stabbed again. Hopefully I don't get that same weird Asian lady even though she had nice veins... I like a challenge.

Also I think that instead of paying $50 a month on student loans I might as well pay $1000 a month to pay them off since I have the money. I'll have all my student loans paid off in 3 months :) Plus then I won't be getting raped by the interest rate. Then all I have to worry about debt wise is my car which, ooo still has some paying off that needs to be done.

Now that I'm getting school figured out and I have my work schedule for rest of this month I think that it's about time I get back in the gym. I'm getting fluffy! I was getting in such good shape before Mexico then I came back and stopped like an idiot. I think I'm going to start going to Yoga classes to help with my flexability and relax me. Not to mention I'll have a real reason to wear Yoga pants besides the fact that they are way more comfy that jeans :)

ANNND I put highlights back in my really dark brown hair today. I just felt frumpy and boring with all brown hair. I'm so much more used to having blonde. Plus no one recognizes me anymore! Which is lame.

Aww, wittle puppy yoga :)

Free money.

Last night I had this older lady at the bar begging me for a job. She claimed that she only wanted X amount of hours otherwise all her unemployment and her kid's government assistance would be taken away. She has two kids, 11 & 14. She also had already spent roughly $40 on herself and others within an hour. Okay... So the whole time I'm thinking:

"If you're on government assistance WHY are you out at a bar spending your government issued money on alcohol? Do you realize how much $40 in groceries could have just bought your kids?"

Seriously that shit right there pisses me off. I am so glad that part of my paychecks go to helping people like this. (I am all for helping people who truly, 100% need it and appreciate it.  I understand that people have hard times and there are programs out there that help them BUT I'm only for them when those people that are being helped are finding ways to help themselves too.)

WIC or other food stamps for example. I see people at Festival have two transactions. One transaction has all their WIC approved foods and regular foods...then the next one is a couple bottles of liquor. So you can afford to buy your liquor but you need OUR help, OUR money to help buy your food? Yet you still have enough money to go out that night? To drink, gamble? Go shopping? I'm glad part of my paycheck just saved you enough to go buy those cute Silver jeans!

Badgercare or other health programs. When I was going to Options for my birth control that's the program I used. I appreciated it and always donated when I'd leave. I have since stopped going and canceled my Badgercare because I'm on my parents insurance. What I don't like is the girls/guys that abuse the awesome system they have set up there. Girls going in and being offered any number of birth control options, tons of useful health information and education and they still show up pregnant or infected because they weren't smart. Then who pays for the medications or other fixes? Us, out of our paychecks. Awesome, I'm glad I just paid for so-and-so's 6th pregnancy test.

I know all of this probably sounds mean but what I'm really trying to get across is that I'm so sick and tired of people not helping themselves. People are so lazy these days. They'd rather live off the government than get a real job and work hard. I see it in bars especially. People are too broke to buy food for themselves but they can spend $5 on drinks all night but make the perfect excuse for why they can't tip me that night. That dollar or two I could have gotten out of them isn't going to make or break my night but it's just the idea that they'd rather keep it so they can keep drinking rather than throw a couple bucks my way for serving them all night.

I am just annoyed knowing that money I work hard to earn gets taken from me to go towards people who I don't believe deserve it. I feel like people are getting the mind set of being dependent on the government and are afraid to work because their benefits will get cut. Get out and earn your own money and stop spending mine!

Well that's probably the most adorable picture ever.

Anyways, I am having a lonely, cruddy day. I wanted to make home made pizza and have a girls night until I realized I basically have no girls for friends that A) aren't busy or B) that I really only have 1 girl friend that actually would hang out with me. So I'm just going to clean all day, organize my life, do homework and hang out with my best friend Romeo.

I lead an awesome life.

ALSO, IF ANYONE WORKS OUT AND
LIKES PRE-WORKOUT DRINK MIX'S,
I SUGGEST THIS. (It's yummy & works)

News on my Noggin!

I was in the ER a few weeks ago because I thought I was having seizures and heart palpitations. They scanned my brain and said I had a slight Chiari Malformation but nothing serious enough to worry about. I had a follow up appointment and in a week I have to go in and have an MRI and an EEG (which means I have to stay away for 24 hours straight before) They flash strobe lights in your face and I am NOT looking forward to that! Also they confirmed that Chiari Malformation was still nothing to worry about and that my episodes and bad headaches had nothing to do with it so I guess that's good news. Now they have me taking this really good migraine medication so hopefully that helps...Yay more medication.

I have work at 9 and I have no motivation at all right now to go do my hair, my make up, and find an outfit. I am comfy in my hoodie :(

Venipuncture fail!

I'm in the phlebotomy course this spring and Wednesday was our second day of class. We were already starting to practice venipuncture and I was feeling pretty confident about it. Everyone else looked like they were doing pretty good if you consider how nervous we all were. I mean we were about to stick a needle in someone for the first time and take their blood.... Anyways, I get my partner and she's this little Asian lady, shes already hyperventilating, making weird noises and moving around. Great. So I do everything I'm supposed to:

-Apply tourniquet
-Find a good vein
-Take of tourniquet
-Sterilize area and let it dry
-Get tube, gauze and needle prepared
-Apply tourniquet again
-Anchor vein and 'slight poke' and go in
-Put test tube into other tube and observe if there's blood.
-Observe blood flow
-Remove tourniquet

So far so good but when it came to removing the tourniquet WHILE the needle was in her arm was when the problems started. The girl jumped back, as in moving her arm backwards, as in taking her arm away from the needle that was already in her arm, as in the needle that has the air vacuumed out of it to suck the blood out of your vein. So not only was the needle no longer in her arm, either was the blood that was now spilling out of her arm. To make matters worse the rest of the air that wasn't in the tube was being sucked in making a suctioning noise (which sounded horrible) So needless to say the little Asian lady almost passed out and I looked stupid. "Technically" it was a successful draw because I did find a vein, I did get blood in the vacutainer but as for the amount of blood it would have been a fail for the lab since they need a certain amount of blood for that certain color of tube because of the additives, blah blah blah.

Needless to say that I was pretty bummed I didn't do a perfect venipuncture draw my first time but it helps knowing that it wasn't all my fault. I was able to get blood my first try and that I'd rather have bad things like this happen in class than a bad thing happen to me while I'm out on my clinicals in front of patients and doctors.

Oh how I've missed blogging.

I used to have a Xanga site but I deleted it years ago and now I've missed writing and looking back at my memories so I figured I'd start up again :)

So I was supposed to go to Lake Wazee today but with working so much I haven't been getting enough sleep and haven't had time to any laundry done. It was gorgeous all day today and I was stuck inside cleaning. On the bright side though it was a day off and I was able to go into the main bar I work at and have a burger and watch the Brewers game. Unfortunately an ex-boyfriend of mine's dad came in and was hovering by me so I ran out of that place real quick.
